Letter to Students and Parents from CTK's President
Dear Student and Parent,
I’m grateful and excited that you are interested in Christ the King Jesuit College Prep.
Christ the King is eager to find students who yearn for excellence, who want to become leaders, and are willing to develop their talents—whether in the classroom, on the job, on our sports teams, or in our many other extracurricular activities.
To become a member of the first graduating class of Christ the King is special: You will be a founder of a new school—at least new to Chicago’s west side. In the process, you will make your community better, and become a role model for young people behind you.
Jesuit schools have been around for a long time: over 450 years of educating students who commit their lives to the greater glory of God! At places, like Loyola Academy (Wilmette), Cristo Rey Jesuit High School (Pilsen), and St. Ignatius Jesuit College Prep (Chicago)—not to mention Loyola University and Chicago Jesuit Academy—Jesuit schools at all levels have succeeded in producing graduates who excel in every field and endeavor.
But Christ the King offers something new: using the Cristo Rey model, Christ the King is for students and families who do not have access to private schools. Through our work-study program, you will get real world training for a real world job in a professional setting with college graduates. At work, you’ll be exposed to new careers and professions, and mentors who will show what it takes to be a successful leader. You will also earn up to 70% of the cost of your education.
You will also make lifelong friends who share your faith and values and your enthusiasm and commitment to achieve and reach the high goals that you set for yourself. All of this will occur in an environment of safety and a culture of peace.
Make no mistake about it: Christ the King will demand that you work hard! But our teachers will make learning fun in ways you may have never experienced before. Their care and concern for you means that you’ll get the support you need to succeed and thrive in a college prep environment and beyond.
So what are you waiting for? Call us and explore our website today to learn more about Christ the King!
Sincerely,
Reverend Christopher Devron, SJ
President
