June 6, 2008
Breaking ground, building a brighter future: Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Francis Cardinal George and dozens of dignitaries dig in their shovels to celebrate the groundbreaking of CTK’s new building, the first Catholic high school built on the West Side in 85 years.

August 25, 2008
CTK Welcomes its first class of 120 freshmen at our temporary location, St. Martin De Porres.


Throughout 2009
CTK makes national headlines in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and The Chicago Tribune, and is touted on CBS Early Morning News and local TV stations as a cutting-edge high school that provides extraordinary opportunities to student who have few options for a bright future.

February 20, 2009
With 400 in attendance at the first annual King of Hearts, the gala is the largest indoor dinner ever held at the Garfield Park Conservatory and raises over $100,000.


January 4, 2010
Students move into their permanent home, the new $30-million, state-of-the-art building designed by award-winning architect John Ronan. The momentous event is celebrated with a Mass on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, attended by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn and Sen. Dick Durbin.


February 19, 2010
The second annual King of Hearts Gala raises $300,000.


April 16, 2010
Nearly 25 students lead Francis Cardinal George, Archbishop of Chicago, and guests on tours of the building to kick off the U.S Bank $2 Million Capital Challenge.


April 17, 2010
Our Lady of Sorrows parish gives CTK students the “Leaders of the Future” award for regularly providing “inspiration and hot nutritional meals” every Saturday at Dignity Breakfasts.


Summer 2010
85 students participate in Student Enrichment Programs, known as STEP, at CTK and college campuses across the country.



January 17, 2011
Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel, and Rev. John P. Foley S. J., founder and Chair Emeritus of the Cristo Rey Network, join students to celebrate MLK Day.


February 19, 2011
Almost 600 guests attend the third annual King of Hearts Gala.


May 5, 2011
Students and families volunteer at three West Side organizations to feed the homeless, sort clothes, and clean streets for the first annual Family Service Day.


June 17, 2011
The first annual RISE UP benefit is held at the Harold Washington Library. Hosted by the Rising Leaders Council, the event raises funds for financial aid for 82 students.


August 22, 2011
The first day of school brings unique excitement for the members of the Class of 2012 – they are CTK’s first senior class and will soon become its first graduates.


September 6, 2011
Seniors Stanley & Emmanuel are featured on a National Public Radio documentary entitled "Too Important to Fail" with Tavis Smiley.


October 8, 2011
The girls cross country team earn’s CTK’s first sports’ trophy, placing 3rd at the IHSA Regional Cross Country meet.


January 9-13, 2012
Leap Learning Systems delivers Language Scholars Workshops to CTK juniors and seniors designed to teach effective communication skills.

Friends and supporters of CTK come together to support our students at the fourth annual King of Hearts Gala.

CTK sophomore Vincente addresses an audience of 1,000 gathered at Navy Pier for the 18th Annual Fleur de Lis Ball hosted by the St. Vincent de Paul Center and the Marillac Social Center.

60 CTK students, faculty and staff join forces with more then 200 of our peers from St. Ignatius, Loyola Academy and Cristo Rey Jesuit to launch a new tradition with our first ever “Jesuit Day of Service”.

Sponsors from more than 30 Corporate Work Study Program partners attend a luncheon at CTK featuring a Q&A panel with six seniors and tours lead by Student Ambassadors.

Students, faculty, staff and families join the Central Austin Neighborhood Association to clean streets and plant flowers for CTK’s second annual Family Service Day.

Nearly 200 friends and supporters gather to celebrate the dedication of the Lizzy Seeberg Volunteer House.

100% of the Class of 2012 is accepted to college! The news is shared at the first “College Signing Day,” where students share their college choices and words of wisdom for the underclassmen.

In preparation for graduation, the Class of 2012 returns to St. Martin De Porres to celebrate their Baccalaureate Mass and share reflections on their four year journey together.


June 9, 2012
The Class of 2012 makes history by becoming Christ the King Jesuit College Prep’s first graduating class.


June 22, 2012
The 2nd annual RISE UP benefit is held at the River East Art Center and raises $125,000 to provide financial aid for 110 CTK students.

Boston College Chicago Chapter hosts Alumni Mass at St. Ignatius of Loyola Chapel at CTK

The Class of 2013 commencement exercises to honor CTK’s second graduating class.

Clement V. Martin joins CTK as the second President.

CTK Gospel Choir “Gods Heart” performs during a donor reception at North Shore Country Club.

CTK opens its doors to the Austin community for a Breakfast with Santa and blood drive community service project.

Senior twins Jazmine & Jalisha captivated the audience of over 400 at the sixth annual King of Hearts Gala at the Four Seasons downtown Chicago raising over $400,000 for our students.

February 17, 2014
CTK hosted the 3rd annual Chicago High School Jesuit Day of Service event with over 200 students from CTK, Cristo Rey Jesuit, St. Ignatius College Prep, and Loyola Academy.

Boston College Chicago Chapter hosts Alumni Mass at St. Ignatius of Loyola Chapel at CTK, featuring Fr. Terry Devino, S.J., Vice President and University Secretary of Boston College.
