Start of School Communication - 2020-2021

September 2020

Greetings CTK Families,

As you know, CTK will reopen school using Scenario 1: All Virtual Learning.  In order to prepare students for success when Virtual Learning launches on September 8th, we hosted small groups of students on campus August 24th - September 3rd.  During this in-person orientation, students learned about school-wide structures and expectations, meet their teachers, and get an introduction to what Virtual Learning will entail. Please see below for resources shared during orientation.

Protocols for On-Campus Programs

Students must be in full uniform for all on-campus programs during the first semester. In addition, strict safety measures will be in place to protect the entire CTK community.

  • Pre-Screening: Upon arrival each day, all students will be asked a series of health-related questions as part of a COVID-19 Symptom Check. If your student is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, they should STAY HOME or will be sent home after the pre-screening. The absence will be excused.

  • Face-Covering: Upon arrival, after completion of the pre-screening questions, every student will be checked to ensure a face covering is worn. Please refer to this guide for the proper way to wear a face covering.

  • Social Distancing: At all times, students must allow 6 feet of space between themselves and others. Markers will be on the ground 6 feet apart.

  • Temperature Scan: Students will then proceed to the temperature scan station. Anyone with a fever >100.4 must return home.  Parents will be notified and will have one hour to pick up the student.  Again parents, we need your cooperation here, to ensure we keep everyone healthy.

  • Hand Sanitizing: Students will apply hand sanitizer as they enter the building, and again whenever they re-enter a space. For example, if a student goes to the restroom, they must apply hand sanitizer when they re-enter the classroom, even if they just washed their hands with soap and water.

  • Cleaning Protocols: Our facilities team will clean high touch surfaces (door knobs, stair railings, etc.) throughout the day, and thorough cleaning every evening.  In addition, students will be provided with disinfectant wipes when they enter their classroom space to clean their personal area as an extra layer of protection.

Please discuss these expectations with your student now, so that they will be prepared.  Students will be asked to go home if they fail to meet these expectations.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.  See you soon Gladiators!
