Academic Support

CTK Students are expected to study every school night for at least two hours reviewing the material from the day and preparing their assignments for the next school day. Students are expected to use all available resources to enhance their education (teachers, tutors, academic support staff, libraries, etc.)

Academic Center – Faculty tutors are available in the Academic Center for every subject area, Tuesday-Friday, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Homework help and makeup testing are also available in the Academic Center. The Center is open to all students.

Academic Counseling – Counseling support is available for students with demonstrated need. The goal of Academic Counseling is to empower students with strategies to remediate concerns that prevent them from being successful in the classroom.

Advisory – Every student has an advisory period for 25 minutes each day. The student’s advisor maintains a quiet Study Hall during the period, meets with each student weekly to review progress, and makes appropriate referrals for struggling students.

Peer Tutoring – National Honor Society Peer Tutors are available in the Academic Center, Tuesday-Friday, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Study Skills Course – Freshmen participate in a study skills course during the school day. As part of this class, students are taught reading and note-taking strategies, organization, and executive functioning skills.
