Gladiators,Normally at this time we would be praying the Examen together. But today, I can’t breathe ….Waking up this morning after another difficult night of sleep, many of us had this same feeling … I can’t breathe. Watching the news, hearing gunshots, thinking of what to say to our families, witnessing our city being torn apart by injustice is suffocating. In stark juxtaposition to the events of the past week, the message in the gospel readings yesterday from John is one of peace. Jesus appears to the apostles and says, “peace be with you.” Jesus showed them his hands and his side, the signs of his unjust persecution, and repeated to them, “peace be with you.” It is hard to find this peace while our world is beset by racism, injustice and the continued marginalization of people in our community, but we, like the apostles, must be strengthened and enlivened by the fire of the Holy Spirit and continue to work to renew the face of the earth. As such, we invite the entire CTK community (that's you!), to gather virtually for a moment of prayer before student exams tomorrow morning, so that as a community we may seek our Lord and Savior for strength, restoration and hope.
